The recent ASTRA media trends report indicates that the Australian, United Kingdom and United States media and communications markets continue to be influenced by economic uncertainty.
While Australian subscription TV providers still reported profits, subscriber growth remained subdued. In the UK the closure of video streaming company SeeSaw occurred when the company could not gain sufficient funding to continue. In the US, Netflix continues to capital raise after shares have fallen by over 70% during the past few months.
The development of relationships between OTT and IPTV service providers and major studios continues with Lionsgate and Netflix and well as Disney and YouTube both signing new agreements.
